The Simpsons are a comedy family, but they have a darker side, as well. In this episode, a crime is committed by Mr. Burns, who blocks the sun from the town and forces everyone to use electricity. The crime is committed by an innocent baby, but Burns is later caught and is sentenced to death. This episode is about greed, corruption, and injustice, and the Simpsons love to poke fun at their own characters.
Homer’s character is a typical example of this. He skips church on his day off and watches football, attracting the attention of rich ladies. After meeting these ladies, Marge becomes obsessed with fitting in and her facade begins to crumble. As a result, she decides to take over the role of the “Listen Lady” in Springfield. In the process, she discovers she has a knack for counseling and becomes a popular local hero. Marge also discovers a hidden talent for counseling.
In some episodes, references to illegal drugs are made, though they are not frequent. Occasionally, characters use illegal drugs, although they are rarely shown smoking. Occasionally, they are shown with bongs, high and coughing from inhaling the drug. While a few episodes reference the legality of smoking marijuana, most feature a more mild form of the drug. One episode highlights the medicinal use of marijuana as Homer is nailed by a baseball.
In addition to the writers, the production team includes actors and directors. Sam Simon, who is the creator of the show, assembled the first writing team. The team included writers John Swartzwelder, Jon Vitti, and George Meyer. Other writers include Al Jean, Mike Reiss, and Jay Kogen. In a typical Simpsons episode, there are between 16 writers. Typically, one main writer begins writing a draft and other writers add in jokes and rewrite the script to suit the characters. In addition, the writer is responsible for adding or removing parts they don’t like.
The Simpsons originated as a series of shorts that first aired on April 19, 1987. Animators retraced Groening’s rough sketches. The cartoon’s cartoon-like appearance is indicative of its crudeness. In addition to shorts, the series was later adapted into a full-length prime-time television series for FOX in 1989. In spite of the initial fears, the series has now aired 32 seasons and is in its 33rd.
The Simpsons has no shortage of iconic characters. One of the most famous is Bart, who tries to make a travel TV show out of an old magazine. Another character, Mr. Burns, is a former gay-straight-marriage counselor and mistakenly hails Homer as a talented outsider artist. Another character, Homer, is mistakenly hailed as an outsider artist by the media, only to find that it is a gay marriage. Another episode has a scene with Homer making love with himself in a vision.
The final episode of the season was the best, with the entire cast contributing to the finale. The “Eight Wonders of the World” featured lasers, blimps, and a John Cougar Mellencamp song. The Simpsons’ version of Hee Haw features a comedic parody of the movie, and a memorable performance by James Earl Jones. Moreover, “Fox” featured a pitch-perfect parody of Hee Haw.
Guns are widely available on the show, with almost everyone but Marge having a gun. Barney carries a Derringer in his rear pants pocket. Moreover, the character’s gun was missing. So, he could have taken Burns’ gun. The next possible candidate is a character who does not have a gun. Moe is an easy choice due to his weapon choice, but his gun could have been fired with buckshot, and this would be a major spoiler.
